Stress-Ease Shrub Iced Tea
April 15, 2020
Okay, one more time.
If you’ve been feeling a little anxious, uneasy, or just out-of-whack these days, you’re certainly not alone. In times of increased stress, it can be helpful to turn to the little things to bring us back in the the moment.
Sometimes, that can be noticing the feeling of sunshine on our faces after so many long weeks of rain, and sometimes that means taking the time to make something special to eat or drink.
Bellingham has been enjoying longer days and warmer weather, and to celebrate the onset of spring we’ve been tapping into the power of plants to bring a little balance and ease into our lives.
This Stress-Ease Shrub Iced Tea is in heavy rotation in our household — it’s refreshing, a nice replacement for sugary lemonade, and harnesses the relaxing benefits of a couple key herbs.
Let’s talk plant medicine. We’ve made a blend of herbs that supports your nervous system and helps you weather life’s storms with a little more balance and ease.
Rooibos is a South African plant and a lovely caffeine-free alternative to green or black tea. It has a warm, robust flavor that pairs perfectly with…
… Rose! Rose has long been beloved for its blissful and swoon-worthy scent and associations (no big deal, just the symbol of love and romance). Cleopatra and ancient Romans and Greeks used it as a perfume and a beauty enhancer. It also offers skin, heart, and is anti-inflammatory.
… And chamomile! Ah, our sweet friend chamomile. Chamomile has been used for thousands of years to soothe anxiety and upset stomachs. It’s often drunk before bed — basically a lullaby in a cup.
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention hibiscus — the star in our Hibiscus and Orange Shrub. Grown in the rich soil of Moloka’i on a family farm, it’s a flower to support your immune system and your heart.
