Close your eyes and imagine that you’re lounging beside a perfect blue sea on a white sand beach. There’s nothing but palm trees and gentle waves, and the cold drink in your hand. Nothing says summer — or imaginary tropical vacation — quite like a piña colada.
The piña colada was created in 1954 in San Juan, Puerto Rico from the ingenious mind of hotel bartender Ramón “Monchito” Marrero — to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude. Since then, it’s graced swim-up pool bars and home kitchens alike.
We’re a huge fan of this decadent, delicious drink — especially as we move into the hotter days of summer. There’s nothing better after a long day mowing the lawn, adventuring in the mountains, lounging by the beach, or (let’s be real…) working from the kitchen table and wrangling our kids.,
Of course, we had to add Shrub and give it a little local PNW twist. Our Pineapple and Sage Shrub truly tells the Shrub Farm story, combining Maui and Cascadia in healthy, unexpected, and delicious fashion.
With the juiciest pineapples Hawai’i can grow, paired with WA-grown raw apple cider vinegar and organic sage grown from our friend Roslyn at Rabbits Field Farm, this Pineapple and Sage Piña Colada is a one-way ticket to your dream tropical vacation.
Speaking of, where is your dream vacation? Our team has some thoughts.
