Hibiscus and Orange Chicken

This is comfort food at its finest — it’s satisfying, sticky, slightly sweet, salty, and oh so delicious. Orange chicken was invented by American Chinese restaurant chain Panda Express in 1987, and since then has become beloved across the nation. According to NPR, “the restaurant chain sold 80 million pounds of orange chicken this year alone. Chef Wang says that's four pieces for every man, woman and child in this country.”

We decided to try our hand at making our own orange chicken, since we’re big fans of the Panda Express version. And because no dish or drink would be complete without shrub ;), we’ve added our Hibiscus and Orange Shrub to Dinner Then Dessert’s recipe — and it seriously takes the whole thing to another level.
